When Leicester fans said Iheanacho can't score, I wanted to laugh. I have been watching football for almost 30 years and let me say, footballers DO NOT forget how to score. It just isn't something that happens. If a striker suddenly stops scoring, the key is to identify WHAT has changed in their environment or attitude. You do not go from being the most efficient striker in the entire European football top flight (yes he was at one point) to not being able to score. It NEVER EVER EVER EVER happens, without a specific reason, such as confidence, personal trauma, being put in the wrong role etc. Iheanacho is a confidence striker. If he is not scoring, he is not confident. Simple as that. There is a very strange thing that happens when we quickly want to write off players. There is a reason why good players in Europe often thrive in other situations after a slump. They find a new role, they find their confidence again etc. It happened to KDB, Salah, Lukaku, Sanchez, just to name a few. The reverse is also true, where a player goes from hero to zero overnight after being put in a situation where they can't thrive. YES the perfect player like Cristiano or Ibra can thrive in any situation, but those players are rare. For everyone else, it takes some figuring out, what makes them tick. Many clubs would save a lot of money and heartache if they simply accepted this. So don't be surprised if one day Leicester sells Iheanacho and he goes onto be one of the top scorers in Italy or Spain etc. Micah Richards was 100% correct when he said that Kelechi Iheanacho is a better finisher than his goalscoring record at Leicester City suggests. Leicester were not sold a lemon or a dud, Leicester City bought exactly what it was that they saw. They just do not know how to get the best from him.
